There is so much creativity and energy in every arts-related department or program
at the University of South Carolina … just imagine the synergy when artists from
different programs work together across disciplinary boundaries to create and perform
new kinds of art!
Fostering that kind of interdisciplinary collaboration is central to the mission
of the Arts Institute. We sponsor, promote, and help to underwrite collaborative
projects between various arts units on campus and between arts programs and other
disciplines. From poetry that's set to music, to visual art-inspired dance
performances, to history brought to life through drama, events sponsored by the
Arts Institute bring together the talents, insights, ideas, creativity, and knowledge
housed in different departments to make art that's innovative, exciting, and inspiring.
