The following is a—by no means complete—list of resources to help you launch or accelerate your artistic career.
We’ve included links to granting agencies, listservs, arts organizations … any resource we’ve come across that could be useful to creative artists.

Artsopportunities.org A service of the Southern Arts Federation, this database lists all kinds of arts opportunities, from grants to contests to jobs, and allows you to sort by geographic region or see listings from all over the country.
Hub City Writers Project A non-profit independent press and literary arts association, Spartanburg-based Hub City publishes local writers, provides both a virtual and real community for South Carolina writers, and has become a national model for community-based writers' programs all over the nation.
National Endowment for the Arts A federal agency dedicated to excellence in the arts, the NEA is a powerhouse for arts-related grants, and its website is also a great resource for news about national-level developments in the arts community.
New York Foundation for the Arts A great resource for grants and general arts information, in New York and nationwide. Check out its listings of jobs for artists too.
The South Carolina Arts Commission A comprehensive one-stop resource for artists in any discipline. Funds a number of grants, contests, and awards, and also provides information about and/or links to a host of other resources for artists in South Carolina.
The South Carolina Humanities Council The SCHC funds, promotes, and coordinates a wide range of endeavors - from exhibits to films to dramatizations and lectures - that pertain to the humanities, including the arts. A good resource for grants large and small.
The South Carolina Poetry Initiative A statewide organization that promotes and celebrates the reading, writing, and performing of poetry in South Carolina. Sponsors a number of workshops, retreats, and contests for poets.
South Carolina Writers Workshop A literary arts organization serving both new and established writers, the SCWW hosts a major writers' onference every fall in Myrtle Beach, and the SCWW website, with its blogs, chatrooms, and online publication of members' work, is a great place to connect with other writers.

Association of Performing Arts Presenters With over forty years as an active arts service organization, the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (Arts Presenters) is the nexus for the performing arts community and the innovators in the field. Its resources for actors and other performers include a job bank, an annual conference, grants, and more.
South Carolina Dance Association This group supports and promotes dance throughout South Carolina, and provides networking and educational opportunities for dacners and dance suporters.
South Carolina Theatre Association A statewide organization for theatre professionals--provides info about auditions and jobs, as well as the latest news about theatre in SC and beyond.
American Association of Community Theatre A really comprehensive site with lots of info, news, and advice for actors and other theatre professionals, so check it out whether you're specifically itnerested in community theatre or not.
The Southeastern Theatre Conference In addition to holding a big annual conference, this organization offers scholarships, provides tips for auditioning, and coordinates auditions for major productions.
American Alliance for Theatre & Education Dedicated to promoting standards of excellence in theatre education, AATE also posts job listings and provides, among other resources, a great list of theatre conferenecs and events around the globe.
Chamber Music America Dedicated to supporting and strengthening the chamber music community throughout the nation, CMA hosts conferences and seminars as well as an online discussion forum.
Theatre Communications Group Committed to strengthening, nurturing and promoting the professional not-for-profit American theatre, this organization also has a great website with a ton of resources for theatre professionals, including info about theatre-related finance, jobs, salaries, etc.
Opera America Supporting the creation, presentation, and enjoyment of opera, this national organization provides all kinds of resources and information for opera performers and opera lovers
North American Performing Arts Managers and Agents If you're a performing artist and are ready to look for an agent, this is a great place to start.
The Art and Literature Niche Unlimited A social networking site for creative artists, started by a student at the University of Georgia.
