Known nationally and internationally for the outstanding professional performance opportunities it creates for its students, the Dance program at Carolina provides specialized career training at a professional level. The program is also home to the South Carolina Summer Dance Conservatory, a ballet-oriented summer-intensive program that attracts talented young dancers from all over the world.

For dance lovers in the Columbia community, the department's focus on creating a range of performance opportunities for its students translates into a rich and diverse array of dance programs throughout the year. With a faculty that counts acclaimed choreographers among its number, the department offers an eclectic and exciting mix of performances, both premiering the most new and avant-garde works and revisiting classical favorites.
