Applying for Arts Institute Funding

Each year, the Arts Institute provides funding and other support for a number of arts-related events on campus. There are only two criteria a project is required to meet in order to be eligible for Arts Institute funding:

  • It must be interdisciplinary, involving at least two of the arts disciplines (dance, film, literary arts, music, theatre, visual arts) on campus.
  • It must appeal to a broad audience, i.e., not just to a handful of scholars or artists in a particular discipline but rather to students, faculty members, scholars and members of the general public.

If you have an idea for a project that meets these criteria, we would like to know about it! We encourage all members of the Carolina community to get creative and think about ways in which the Arts Institute can help you make art that crosses disciplinary boundaries to say new and exciting things.

For inspiration (and for information about the kinds of projects we have funded in the past), visit our Previous Arts Institute Events page. To download an application, click here. For more information about how to apply for Arts Institute funding, visit our How to apply and Submitting your application pages.

If you have any questions at any stage of the application process, please don't hesitate to contact us. Arts Institute Executive Director Kwame Dawes or Program Coordinator Charlene Spearen will be happy to assist you.
