"I can pick up the phone and call any one of the professors with whom I worked closest and still receive the best advice, insight, and support. And they can attest that I still really do call them!"
Connie Frigo, DMA, '05 Assistant Professor of Saxophone University of Tennessee at Knoxville
Nationally recognized for both scholarly and artistic excellence, the University
of South Carolina School of Music enriches the life of the University and the
Columbia community by offering some 250 concerts a year. Students majoring or
minoring in music can study across a wide range of disciplines, including composition,
guitar, jazz, music education, music history, music theory, strings, voice, winds
and more. And through special events and projects like the USC String Project,
the Southeastern Piano Festival, the Community Music Program and the Children's
Music Development Center, the School of Music not only provides hands-on training
for its students but also does much to foster the vibrancy of Columbia's music
culture.
Across all times and all cultures, music has always been an essential component
of the human experience. The School of Music celebrates our musical heritage and
trains the musical leaders of tomorrow.
